Nehru International School celebrated its 3rd Annual Sports Day with grandeur on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the NIT playground. The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. T. Pradeep Rajkumar, an internationally acclaimed athlete from the Customs and Central Excise Department, Coimbatore. Key members of the school’s management were present to mark the occasion, with absence of Chairman and Managing Trustee Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas. The attendees included Dr. P. Krishna Kumar, CEO and Secretary; Dr. Chaithanya Krishna Kumar, Correspondent and Executive Director of Academics and Administration; Dr. H.N. Nagaraja, Senior Administrator; Principal Mr. K.S. Siva prakash; and Headmistress Ms. Priya Suresh.
The event commenced with a ceremonial welcome by the school’s band troop, escorting the honoured guests to the stage. The Chief Guest, joined by the dignitaries, hoisted the flag, signalling the beginning of the festivities. A spirited march-past by students from grades 5 to 10 followed, embodying dedication, unity, and pride. The Olympic torch was then presented to several high-achieving students, who have brought laurels to the school through their accomplishments in sports. With the Sports Captain leading the athletes in the oath-taking ceremony, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation and honour.
Principal Mr. K.S. Siva Prakash warmly welcomed the gathering, and Physical Director Ms. Dhivya S. presented the Annual Sports Report, highlighting the school’s achievements over the past year. The Chief Guest then officially declared the Sports Meet open, marking the start of the eagerly awaited events. The day unfolded with an energetic drill performance by KG students, who later received their medals and certificates on stage from the dignitaries. This was followed by a delightful drill from grades 1 and 2, whose prize winners were also celebrated on stage. Students from grades 3 to 5 showcased their drill skills next, receiving well-deserved medals and certificates.
The event proceeded with the finals for various sports competitions for students from grades 1 through 11, displaying remarkable skill and sportsmanship. A captivating martial arts demonstration by students from grades 6 to 11 enthralled the audience, followed by an impressive house drill presentation. The relay finals were a highlight, bringing forth the competitive spirit and camaraderie among students. Parents, too, joined the celebrations through special events, adding an element of joy and community to the day.
The Chief Guest addressed the assembly with inspiring words, followed by a felicitation address by Dr. P. Krishna Kumar, CEO and Secretary, and Dr. Chaithanya Krishna Kumar, Correspondent. The grand prize distribution ceremony recognized and honoured the students’ dedication and success in their respective events. The Sports Meet was formally concluded by the Chief Guest, and Physical Director Mr. Ganesh extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
The 3rd Annual Sports Day was a magnificent celebration of talent, unity, and joy—a memorable day that will undoubtedly inspire students, staff, and parents alike.
